Elk River MMA is now part of the George Oiler Brazilian Jiu Jitsu network

img_3105Elk River MMA is proud to announce that we are part of the George Oiler Brazilian Jiu Jitsu network. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Classes will begin December 1st at 7pm, and we be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm. Classes will be held at Elk River MMA and Boxing Club located at 13 Main Street Clendenin WV.

Elk River MMA goes 2-0 in Clarksburg WV

img_3257It has been a busy three weeks for Elk River Boxing Club. They have traveled to Martinsburg, Clarksburg, Glenville and St. Albans to compete in various competitions from boxing and MMA to karate, and Judo.  Their most recent event took place in Clarksburg, West Virginia at the Hard Knocks cage fights where they went 2-0. William “Blake” Whittington, of Clendenin, defeated Jake Wickline, of Frostburg, Maryland to raise his record to 4-1. Tyler Harper, of Clendenin, defeated Densel Chapman, of Logan, WV for his first win in an MMA amateur competition. Coach Rob Fletcher says he is “very excited about the wins and so happy about all of the competitions Elk River Boxing Club and Elk River MMA has participated in this year. Even after the flood, our kids have been extremely successful and hard working”. Elk River Boxing Club will be back in action after the first of the year and will competing in many events so be prepared to hear more from them in 2017.

USAMAF National Championship

img_3108This past weekend Elk River Boxing & MMA participated in the USMAF National Championship in St Albans WV.

Rob Fletcher placed 3rd in Men’s Judo Heavyweight division and Chris Wray placed 4th in men’s Judo lightweight division .

Amanda Lawson placed 2nd in advanced women’s kata and 3rd in advanced women’s weapon kata. David Hill placed 2nd in men’s Black belt Kata and 3rd in Men’s black belt weapons kata. Trevor Sharp placed 5th in 12-13 year old fighting and 6th in 12-13 year old kata
